Scuba Club Cozumel Review

I went to Cozumel in March of 2007 with my son. We stayed at Scuba Club Cozumel and dove with the in-house organization, Scuba-Cozumel. This resort is all about diving and as the motto of the resort states, " a dive resort ran by divers, for divers ", that is pretty much the extent of the activities. The resort has an all-inclusive meals plan and the food is not bad at all. No beverages are included in the all-inclusive plan ( alcoholic or otherwise ).
The rooms are not bad but neither are they luxurious either. They do not have televisions but they do have wireless internet access. The beds are not very comfortable but they are not so bad as to preclude a good nights rest.
The Dive operation is very well ran and very safety conscious. Good briefings and good attentive crews. Boats are not too crowded and in good shape.
Overall, I would recommend this resort to anyone on a budget who is only really intersted in diving. This would not be a good choice for someone travelling with a non-diving spouse but for me and my son ( let's dive until we grow gills dad ), it was just fine.

You said that Scuba Club Cozumel had wireless internet access - was there a charge? Did you have the opportunity to use it? If so, how the the speed of the internet connection? I can go without TV on vacation, but going without internet is not an option...

Addict, yes I used the internet almost everyday and it is free. The speed was about what you saw on cable in the US a few years ago ( ie 1.0 to about 1.5 m/s ). The connection was solid and I was able to obtain a signal in my room which was near the bar area ( where the wireless router is located ). Funny story, I had intended to get caught up on a few series while there ( 2.5 men, Heroes, Lost, etc ) because I found that the networks ( ABC, CBS, NBC ) had them on their websites to view anytime. HOWEVER,,, I found that you must be logging in from a US location to utilize this feature ( why?? ), so I wached a lot of CNN.com ( hehe ).
CAT- Cozumel is a great place to dive and like Scubamag says, you find yourself going back every couple of years due to the relatively cheap diving. Have fun!
